Users handing tasks to Claude Cowork no longer start from a blank slate; the tool can draw on context from regular chat conversations. Context is preserved across both environments without interruption.
Claude maintains a single memory layer that works across both its chat interface and Claude Cowork, Anthropic's multi-step task delegation tool. Users control what is stored, and memory entries are editable in Settings. Cowork can draw on context established in prior chat sessions, including project details, manager preferences, or client history, without requiring users to re-establish that background.
