The Genesis Mission Consortium

Eleven technology companies have collectively pledged $2.4 billion in AI tools and computing resources to the Genesis Mission Consortium, a Department of Energy-led public-private partnership. The contribution breakdown, reported from a White House science summit, shows Nvidia committing the largest share at $1 billion over five years, AMD at $500 million, OpenAI at $200 million, Anthropic and Google at $150 million each, and Micron, AWS, and Crusoe each at $50 million. The federal government separately committed $5 billion to support national science and technology challenges. The Genesis Mission, launched by the White House in November 2025 under DOE oversight, aims to create an AI-powered national platform and now spans more than 15 federal agencies. The DOE had established partnerships with 24 technology companies by February 2026 when it formally unveiled the consortium. Wiley joined as the only scientific publisher among consortium members and was invited to demonstrate its work at the Genesis Mission Annual Summit in Washington, D.C.. Wiley describes existing collaborations with OpenEvidence, IQVIA, Microsoft, Anthropic, and AWS to bring peer-reviewed content into AI platforms. The DOE issued a Request for Applications in March 2026 offering $293.76 million across 21 project areas including advanced manufacturing, industrial productivity, energy, and nuclear physics.
