Anthropic Merges Cowork Into Claude, Launches Docs Suite

Anthropic merged its Claude Cowork and Claude chat products into a single unified experience, rolling out first to Pro and Max plan users across web, desktop, and mobile. The consolidated product handles both quick questions and longer agentic tasks that continue running after a user closes their laptop, with beta Docs, Slides, and Design features included alongside background task handoffs. Separately, Anthropic launched Claude Docs, described as a document suite competing with Microsoft Office. The company also signed a six-year $13.7 billion compute deal with Rum Group and partnered with Novo Nordisk to use Claude Science for drug development. Nvidia, Palantir, and Booz Allen Hamilton are reportedly restricting use of Claude Fable over concerns about Anthropic's data retention policy. Anthropic has also reportedly set up a wet lab in the Bay Area for physical biology work.
