German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang signed a Joint Declaration of Intent at Berlin's Kraftwerk during the Invest in Germany Summit, formalizing NVIDIA's collaboration with Germany's Industry 4.0 Platform and committing both parties to a joint initiative on physical AI models. The initiative focuses on applying machine learning to factories, robots, and physical equipment using machine data, production schedules, and quality measurements. NVIDIA committed nearly $10 billion to European companies, universities, and research institutions as part of the broader effort. Huang announced planned investments in four German startups: Agile Robots, which builds AI-powered robots including humanoids for manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare; Avelios Medical, which develops an AI-native hospital information system; Mirelo, which develops AI models that generate sound effects, speech, and music for video production; and Reflex Aerospace, which designs high-performance satellites with a build-to-launch timeline of roughly 12 months. The following day at his GTC Berlin keynote, Huang said NVIDIA works with more than 12,000 partners across Europe and listed major European companies including L'Oreal, Revolut, Spotify, Merck, Vodafone, Zara, Porsche, Nestle, and HSBC as working with NVIDIA on AI. He framed AI as a five-layer stack consisting of energy, computers, AI factory, models, and applications.
How it developed
At his GTC Berlin keynote, held after signing the industrial AI declaration with Chancellor Merz, Huang said NVIDIA works with more than 12,000 partners across Europe and named L'Oréal, Revolut, Spotify, Merck, Vodafone, Zara, Porsche, Nestlé, and HSBC as active collaborators.
Huang also argued that Europe should produce AI rather than only consume it, framing AI as a five-layer stack spanning energy, computers, AI factory, models, and applications.
German Chancellor Merz and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang signed a Joint Declaration of Intent in Berlin to build an industrial AI ecosystem in Europe, with NVIDIA pledging nearly $10 billion to European companies, universities, and research institutions.
Huang announced planned investments in four German startups: Agile Robots, Avelios Medical, Mirelo, and Reflex Aerospace. Separately, German TV producer UFA uses Adobe's NVIDIA-accelerated Frame.io to search archives up to 15 years old across over 3,500 hours of annual production.
Huang defined sovereign AI as owning one's own data, culture, and knowledge with guaranteed access, rejecting chip nationality as the determinant.
European cities across Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, and the UK reported deployments of NVIDIA-powered AI agents for urban operations.
At GTC Paris, NVIDIA announced a partnership with Mistral to deploy 18,000 Grace Blackwell chips and a plan for a 10,000-GPU industrial AI cloud in Germany, plus collaborations across France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
